    Our Commitment

    For over 35 years, the City of Pasadena Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment (SAPT) Program, part of the Pasadena Public Health Department, has been committed to providing addiction recovery programs and services to individuals and families in a professional, safe and non-judgmental setting. The SAPT Program offers non-residential substance abuse recovery programs and services.

    Programs and Services

    SAPT Program's trained counselors offer peer acceptance and caring support in your efforts to seek continuous, long term quality sobriety from alcohol and other drugs. We emphasize coping skills, improving self-esteem and responsible decision-making toward healthy living. Services include, but are not limited to:

    • Individual counseling 
    • Recovery discussion groups 
    • Family and significant other groups
    • Special intervention topics such as anger management, parenting, domestic violence  

    Specialized support groups can be created as needs are identified. We can also arrange for other appropriate supportive service referrals.

    In addition, we are a designated CalWORKs and General Relief (GR) service provider. We are certified and licensed by the California Department of Health Care Services.

    All services are strictly confidential.  

    Prevention

    We provide outreach and education services in primary prevention to:

    • schools
    • churches
    • community-based groups
    • public and private agencies

    First Offender Driving Under the Influence (DUI) Program

    Enrollment for the DUI program is currently closed. Please contact one of the agencies listed in this document for class availability and schedule.

    Admission Criteria

    • Individuals over the age of 18. (Those under age 18 years old need parental consent.)
    • A desire for intervention and support to achieve continuing sobriety.
    • No one can be under the influence of alcohol or other drugs when attending any program activity.
    • The entire family is welcome.
    • Individuals who appear to require psychiatric intervention may be referred to a more appropriate setting.

    Fees

    Regular program fees are on a sliding scale, based on ability to pay. No one is refused services because of an inability to pay. We accept cash, check, and major forms of credit cards.
