The Special Investigation Section’s primary focus is on mid-to-major level narcotic dealers and distributors. These are individuals who sell quantities of drugs to others and include the transportation of narcotics in vehicles. Even though most of our resources are used building cases on individuals in this category, we also spend time on smaller street level dealers that require covert surveillance. Sometimes other techniques are needed such as utilizing undercover officers to purchase drugs from problem locations or buying drugs from individuals who sell narcotics at the street level.

What are some warning signs of possible drug abuse?  

• Evidence of narcotics and drug paraphernalia (smoking pipes, needles, rolling papers, bongs etc…)
• Physical changes (red eyes, rapid weight loss or weight gain, needle marks, and bruising)
• Disassociation from family and change of friends
• Depression, aggression and hostility
• Lack of interest in personal and professional life
• Change in grooming habits, eating habits and sleeping habits
