    Calendar Year 2009 - Accomplishments

    1. PPL received 5 Star Ranking from Library Journal 2009
    2. City website design
    3. Lamanda Park Branch offers new programs and services to library users with Disabilities
    4. Digital Library expansion – added videos and MP3 titles. Held a very successful Digital Bookmobile outreach in February 2009
    5. 2009 One City, One Story, Luis Alberto Urrea’s The Hummingbird’s Daughter
      • 7,500 participated in the month long series of programs and activities
    6. Two highly successful and well attended ArtNights:
      • March 13 – ArtNight Fiesta kick off to One City, One Story program
      • October 9 – Touching All Bases: A Baseball Celebration program
    7. Summer Reading Club
      • Children and teen participants read 43,162 library books this past summer.
      • Try It @ Your Library program for teens more than doubled in both size and offerings - 19 programs were held at 8 library sites. Over 88% of the teen attendees had perfect attendance and didn’t miss a single session.
    8. Computer Training, Job Resources & Career Assistance program expansion at La Pintoresca Branch Library through partnerships with Women At Work and Flintridge Operating Foundation
    9. Early Literature programs – Raising a Reader and Library Liaisons

    Fiscal Year 2008-2009 - Statistics

    • 1,715,107 items were borrowed from the Pasadena libraries
    • 43,832 items were added to our collection, bringing the total to 775,469 items in the library collection
    • 6,253 children and teens participated in the Summer Reading Club
    • 273,824 Internet sessions were originated from the Pasadena Central Library
    • 157,353 Internet sessions originated in the Internet Commons at Central Library
    • Library website visitors:
      • 38,896 visits to the Library Kids website
      • 44,603 visits to the Library Teens website
      • 878,146 visits to the Library's website
    • 118,853 Pasadena residents have Pasadena Library cards
