    The Human Services and Recreation Department invites you to join us in our programs and activities which serve people of all ages and abilities and can provide you with an opportunity to enhance your life by meeting new friends and neighbors, exploring the arts, learning about community services, developing skills and so much more!
    Mission Statement 

    To preserve and improve the physical, social, and economic health of Pasadena neighborhoods by delivering inclusive, innovative, and progressive recreational and human service programs; the Human Services & Recreation Department is committed to providing the City of Pasadena with a wonderful place to live, work, and play which contributes to a connected, healthier vibrant, and diverse community.

    Black History Month 2017     Black History Month

    Celebrate Black History Month 2017 in Pasadena! The City and Volunteer Black History Parade & Festival Planning Committee will present a full schedule of events in celebration of the achievements by black Americans and in recognition of African-Americans in U.S. History. Pasadena is proud to host one of the largest Black History Month Parades in the U.S.A. The 35th Annual Black History Parade begins at 10:00 a.m. at Charles White Park in Altadena, heads south on Fair Oaks Avenue and ends at Robinson Park, 1081 N. Fair Oaks Ave. Join us at 1:00 p.m. for a ceremonial groundbreaking for the new Robinson Park Recreation Center.

    Robinson Park Recreation Center will close to the general public beginning Monday, January 9, 2017. The Center is scheduled to be under construction from early 2017 through Spring 2018.

    Robinson Park staff, including the headquarters of the After School Adventures Program, will be temporarily housed at the Jackie Robinson Community Center, 1020 N. Fair Oaks Avenue from January 2017 through March 2018. All staff will retain existing telephone numbers and email addresses. Robinson Park’s main line, (626) 744-7330, will be forwarded to the Jackie Robinson Community Center.

    No reductions in programming will occur. All programming will continue at other locations around the City, and program participants will be notified of new and ongoing recreation, youth sports and Spring, Summer and Winter Camp opportunities through the Department’s seasonal brochures, monthly newsletters and regularly updated website.
