Rose Parade Tickets. Pasadena residents within City Council Districts 1, 2 and 4 can go online later this month to their respective Council District webpage for more information regarding this year’s Rose Parade Ticket Lottery. If selected, you must be able to verify your residential address within your district to receive tickets. International Human Rights Day. Join Mayor Bill Bogaard and the United Nations Association, Pasadena/Foothills Chapter, 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 9, Pasadena Central Library, Donald R. Wright Auditorium, commemorating the 64th Anniversary of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Gil Garcetti is featured presenter.

City Holiday Tree Lighting. Help Mayor Bogaard light the City’s Official Holiday Tree at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 6, City Hall Rotunda, 100 N. Garfield Ave.

Allendale Holiday Literary Festival and Tree Lighting. Enjoy a stellar roster of poets and authors at Allendale Branch Library who explore “true meanings” of the holidays, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 8, followed lighting of the Allendale Park Christmas Tree.

The Cheeseburger Salute! It was 90 years ago in Pasadena that Lionel Sternberger placed a slab of cheese on a burger; the gourmet legend was born and the rest is history! Join the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce in a salute to the hometown of the quintessential All-American Food. Jan. 13-18, Pasadena restaurants will be serving up all things cheeseburgers. Mayor’s State of the City Address. Join Mayor Bill Bogaard, City Council members and community leaders for the annual State of the City event, 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 24, at Ramo Auditorium, on the Caltech Campus, as we “Celebrate Success” locally by the City and other special, out-of-this-world accomplishments by our friends at Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
