  • Start the new year with workshops at La Pintoresca Branch Library Wednesday Jan. 19 to Feb. 16, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. to learn how to lose weight, start moving, stop smoking, and control high cholesterol and blood pressure. 744-7268.
  • Well-known films are shown every Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Donald R. Wright Auditorium at Pasadena Central Library, 285 E. Walnut St. See movies shot in Pasadena in January and love stories in February. 744-4066.
  • Pasadena’s Black History Parade on Saturday, Feb. 19, begins at 10 a.m. at Charles White Park in Altadena and ends with a family festival until 4 p.m. at Robinson Park. 744-7300.
  • Help mark the 75th anniversary of the Pasadena Area League of Women Voters with a celebration Sunday, March 6, from 4 to

  • Child Health Collaborative (CHC) Clinic offers free health care and counseling to children up to 18 years old Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4 to 8 p.m. (walk-ins 4 to 5 p.m.) and every third Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (walk-ins 9 to 11 a.m.) at Washington Middle School, 1505 N.   • Signs for yard and estate sales, political campaigns, real estate open houses and other events are illegal if they’re on telephone poles, sidewalks and other public property, including parks. Signs will be removed and stored for 45 days at the owners’ expense. 744-4633.
