Month of Events Centers on 'Mudbound'

Author Hillary Jordan will come to Pasadena from her home in New York to discuss her stirring novel “Mudbound” during a community celebration Saturday, March 26, in the ballroom at the Pasadena Convention Center, 300 E. Green St. The program will begin at 3 p.m. with Theatre Americana’s USO Show “One for the Boys” followed by a two-hour question-and-answer session with the novelist starting at 3:30 p.m.

Jordan’s appearance caps a long list of March events as part of the ninth annual One City, One Story program created by the Pasadena Public Library to spark discussions across the city.

The story of two celebrated soldiers returning home to the Mississippi Delta after World War II, “Mudbound” touches on family and friendship, courage and heroism, racism and social change.

Add your voice to the mix during a series of “Mudbound” discussions planned at all Pasadena branch libraries, Huntington Hospital and the Pacific Asia Museum. You’ll also enjoy Southern cooking demonstrations, panel discussions about the World War II era, an exploration of modern race discrimination, a film series, jazz concert and more.
