Pasadena Public Library has opened the book on summer fun with the 2010 Summer Reading Club. Children, from infants to 12-year-olds, can “Make a Splash” with books, water-themed shows, movies and more.
By reading as few as five books over the summer, children can retain or sharpen reading skills learned over an entire school year while pursuing their interests and earning prizes.
Joining is simple at Pasadena Central Library and all branch libraries, where children can pick up free book bags and reading records. They’ll bring in their reading records to earn different prizes every week through Sunday, Aug. 15.
And they won’t want to miss the free shows! Allen the Magician brings his world of magic to performances at Hastings Branch Library, 3325 E. Orange Grove Blvd., July 12 through 19.
Flights of Fantasy makes a splash with humor Thursday, July 22, at 10 a.m. at Central Library, 1 p.m. at Lamanda Park Branch Library and 3:30 p.m. at Allendale Branch Library.
Splish, splash and read with magic, comedy and juggling by Jeff the Great, who’ll leave kids amazed and amused Thursday, July 29, at 10 a.m. at Central Library and 1 p.m. at Hastings Branch Library.
Pacific Animal Productions will show which animals thrive in water and which need none Aug. 9 through 16 at Hastings Branch Library.
