Who qualifies for a general street exemption?

General street exemptions will only be issued to schools and churches that do not have sufficient nearby parking available to them.

Any other organization or individual requesting a general street exemption from the posted time restrictions should visit a TODPEK and purchase temporary daytime parking exemptions for their guests. Do I have to follow posted parking restrictions if I obtain a general street exemption?

A request for a street exemption is an exemption from the daily time restrictions only (example: 2 hour parking). A street exemption does not exempt vehicles from other posted restrictions including but not limited to: “No Parking” zones, “No Stopping” zones, handicapped zones, “Tow Away” zones, fire hydrants, red curb, taxi zones, bus zones, no parking for street cleaning, oassenger loading zones, commercial Loading zones, and parking meters. You must obey all other posted and applicable parking restrictions.

What is the process for obtaining a general street exemption?

If you are a school or church that is requesting a general street exemption you must complete the following process: 

1. Please contact the Parking Office with your request for a street exemption from the daily time restrictions. 
    
2. Prepare a notification letter to be distributed to all affected residents and/or businesses. Please be sure your notification letter provides the date, hours, number of expected vehicles, street name(s) including boundaries/limits you are asking an exemption for. A sample notification letter is attached for your reference. 
    
3. Forward a copy of your notification letter along with the attached signed notification statement to the Parking Office. 
    
4. The Parking Office will review your information and provide you with a confirmation number. You must receive a confirmation number to ensure that your general street exemption has been granted.

Holiday Overnight Parking Citation Moratorium

Please note: Holiday Overnight Parking Citation Moratorium – 2 am to 6 am, from December 23 thru January 3. Vehicles legally parked on the street during the aforementioned hours and dates will not receive a citation for overnight parking. Overnight parking citations will resume being issued the morning of January 4, at 2 am.
