CITY’S LA PINTORESCA PARK TO RECEIVE “HEART YOUR PARK” DONATIONS
PASADENA, Calif.—Shoppers at the local Macy’s, 401 S. Lake Ave., can donate money during March 2014 to support improvements at Pasadena’s La Pintoresca Park. Shoppers can donate $1 or more March 7-31 at specially marked registers inside the store as part of Macy’s nationwide “Heart Your Park” program in conjunction with the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA).
Macy’s will match donations collected nationwide, up to $250,000, that will be divided up to benefit more than 550 parks included in the “Heart Your Park” donation campaign. Locally, 100 percent of the donations made by the public at the Pasadena Macy’s store will go directly to capital improvement programs for Pasadena’s La Pintoresca Park, 45 E. Washington Blvd. Customers will be provided with tax receipts for their donations upon request.
“We’re very grateful for the support from Macy’s and the NRPA,” Pasadena’s Human Services and Recreation Department Director Mercy Santoro said. “Parks make life better and this is an easy way for the public to join us in improving the quality of life, and our parks, in Pasadena.”
The “Heart Your Park” program is a partnership between Macy’s, www.macys.com, and the NRPA, www.NRPA.org. The program hopes to increase awareness about the important role parks and recreation programs play in the health and wellness of communities across the country.
Additional details about the “Heart Your Park” donation campaign, including the complete list of parks benefiting from the program, are available at www.macys.com/parks.
Announcement and availability of the funds for La Pintoresca Park will be made in June 2014, Santoro said.
