Commemorative Plaque for 100th Rose Bowl Game Unveiled

PASADENA, Calif. – On Tuesday, September 24, the Tournament of Roses unveiled the 100th Rose Bowl Game commemorative plaque at the Rose Bowl Stadium.

“We are excited to have a permanent plaque at the Rose Bowl Stadium that celebrates the 100th Rose Bowl Game,” Tournament of Roses President Scott Jenkins said. “We hope this plaque serves as a reminder to all who visit the stadium that this game would not be reaching this milestone without the support of the city of Pasadena, its residents, community leaders and volunteers.”

The plaque, which is located in the Court of Champions, was presented by Jenkins to Pasadena Mayor Bill Bogaard in front of a select group of guests which included leaders from the Pasadena community and Tournament of Roses volunteers.

The 6'x6' bronze sculpture depicts a player from one of the first Rose Bowl Games as well as a modern day player to bring together the past and the present of The Granddaddy of Them All®. The center image represents the iconic Rose Bowl Stadium. Designed by Southern California Bronze, the plaque was cast in Pittsburg at Matthews International, the largest bronze foundry in the world. The manufacturing process combined age-old casting techniques with the latest technology to produce the commemorative piece.
