OCTOBER 2013 EVENTS FOR THE PASADENA CONVENTION CENTER & CIVIC AUDITORIUM ANNOUNCED 

 PASADENA, Calif.--It's going to be a busy month of fun, tasty and interesting activities at the beautiful Pasadena Convention Center and the historic Civic Auditorium.  Check out these special events for October 2013, including:

 

Oct. 6   BRIDE WORLD EXPO 

Shop and compare 150 wedding products and services at the Southland’s largest gathering of wedding vendors. Audition entertainers, sample cakes and food from caterers, shop and compare local retailers, and enjoy a bridal fashion show.  Oct. 6    7TH ANNUAL LOS ANGELES LUXURY CHOCOLATE SALON

Oct. 12        EDISON CHEN IN CONCERT presented by JY Entertainment

BeWell Expo is an active environment created to directly engage consumers with beauty and wellness experts who provide clear and simple answers. Oct. 19        THICH NHAT HANH: TOUCHING THE HEART OF HAPPINESS
Join the renowned Buddhist monk, poet and teacher as he explores how mindfulness, practice and meditation can bring about inner peace and how it affects those around us. The program includes guided meditation, monastic chanting, and an inspirational talk from Thich Nhat Hanh.

Oct. 19-20   CRAFTSMAN EXPOSITION & SALE: part of Pasadena Heritage’s 22nd Annual Craftsman Weekend
The Craftsman Exposition features 60 exhibitors offering extraordinary antique and contemporary Arts & Crafts furnishings and decorative arts as well as restoration experts. Exhibitors from across the United States participate, bringing a broad spectrum of Craftsman-era and period-inspired works, furniture, textiles, pottery and tiles, metal work, wallpapers and stencils, and books, which will entice both the novice and collector.  All exhibitors are juried to provide the highest quality sources for antique and contemporary work in the style of the period. Demonstrations and presentations are offered throughout the two-day show. In addition, a silent auction for a broad range of unique items begins on Saturday and closes Sunday at 4 p.m., with all proceeds benefitting the preservation efforts of Pasadena Heritage.  

11 a.m. – 6 p.m. 

$10 per day at the door; entrance to the Craftsman Exposition is included with all Craftsman Weekend ticket purchases.

Oct. 21        GEORGE PAPANDREOU presented by the Distinguished Speaker Series      
As prime minister of Greece from October 2009 to November 2011, George Papandreou was at the forefront of the global financial crisis. Named one of the “Top 100 Global Thinkers” in 2010 by “Foreign Policy” for “making the best of Greece’s worst year,” he speaks with authority on the state of the Eurozone today and the future of the European Union.  In these tumultuous times, few are better placed that Papandreou to provide insights into the fiscal crisis and the road ahead.

Oct. 22        CALIFORNIA & AMERICAN FINE ART PAINTING SALE 

Choose from a selection of California and American Impressionist oil paintings and watercolors painted before 1950.  Offered three times a year, the auction features more than 275 quality paintings, many of which are sold for record amounts.

Oct. 22        CAMERATA PACIFICA
Camerata Pacifica is a chamber music ensemble comprised of the finest performers of chamber music from around the world. The ensemble is distinctive for artistic excellence, an innovative approach to classical music and a repertoire that ranges from baroque to brand new, from familiar masterworks to works that have yet to become favorites. This performance features Auerbach’s 24 Preludes for Cello & Piano and Mozart’s Divertimento in E-Flat Major, K 563.

Oct. 25-26   “YULAN: WORLD OF LOVE” – Amazing Circus & Ballet Life in Concert 

 presented by the American International Cultural Exchange Foundation  

This original play, created by China’s Dalian Acrobatic troupe, features music, acrobatics, ballet, modern dance, gymnastics, and special effects.
