THREE ARRESTED FOR KIDNAPPING FOR FINANCIAL GAIN
PASADENA, CA –On Tuesday, March 12, 2013, a home invasion robbery occurred in the 1900 block of N. Arroyo Blvd. Three armed, masked gunmen entered the residence at approximately 11:00 pm and held two women captive.
The Pasadena Police Department was not made aware of the crime until the following morning when bank personnel phone the police department reporting that a female was at the location reportedly withdrawing money under duress. Pasadena officers responded and began their investigation. The robbery victims were not injured.
On Thursday, March 14, 2013 at approximately 12:20 PM, Pasadena detectives and Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department (LASD) plainclothes deputies were jointly investigating the robbery when deputies encountered two suspects. One of two suspects shot at the deputies and a subsequent deputy involved shooting occurred. The two suspects fled on foot and a containment was established in the area of Mar Vista Avenue and Orange Grove Boulevard in Pasadena. It is unknown if either suspect was wounded. No law enforcement personnel were injured.
Pasadena detectives subsequently arrested Marquis Garrett (male, African American, age 20, a Pasadena resident) and Paul Scott (male, African American, age 31, Pasadena resident) and Eddie McFadden Jr. (male, African American, age 20, Arcadia resident) for kidnapping for financial gain. Each suspect is being held on $1 million dollars bail.
The Pasadena Police Department continued to investigate the home invasion robbery. The attempted murder of the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department Deputy, and the subsequent deputy involved shooting, are being investigated by the LASD, Homicide Unit.
“The home invasion robbery and attempted murder of a peace officer are violent crimes that necessitate a swift response. The subsequent arrest of the suspects was the resulted of a collaborative effort involving law enforcement entities; including the Pasadena Police Department, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the California Highway Patrol, and K-9 search teams from South Pasadena PD, Alhambra PD, and El Monte Police Department”, stated Police Chief Phillip Sanchez.

Active police investigation in area between Madison Elementary and Jefferson Elementary. No change to normal dismissal process at Madison. Student dismissal at Jefferson Elementary school is to parents and guardians only. Parents can pick up students at the front of the school on Villa. Concerned Jefferson parents can call the school at (626) 396-5710. LEARNs afterschool programs are cancelled at Jefferson Elementary.
Pasadena police advise motorists to avoid area between Orange Grove, Maple, Lake, and Hill if possible.

If you live or work in the area located within the perimeter of Wilson/Orange Grove, Hill/Orange Grove, Maple/Hill, and Wilson/Maple, we ask that you please avoid going into that area.
At 5:00 p.m., a police representative will be available at Jefferson Elementary at 1500 E. Villa St.

If you are a resident that is unable to get to your home because of a street closure, you can go to Jefferson school to wait, and there you will get police updates as they become available. DEPUTY INVOLVED SHOOTING
PASADENA, Calif. -- On Thursday, March 14, 2013, Pasadena Police detectives were working with LASD plain clothes deputies in a joint investigation.
At approx. 12:20 p.m., officers/deputies observed a suspect vehicle. Without notice the suspect vehicle collided with the deputies’ vehicle (UC car). Two suspects exited and abandoned their vehicle and at least one suspect fired rounds at the deputies. Deputies returned fire and it is unknown if either of the suspects were wounded. No law enforcement officers were injured.
Pasadena Police has dedicated a contingency of officers in a large containment (Lake Ave. to Hill Ave. – Villa St. to Orange Grove Blvd.) in an effort to locate the outstanding suspects.
Suspect #1: Male African American, 18-25 years of age, thin build, wearing a black t-shirt, blue jeans.
