December 2013 Highlights

Dec. 7 

PD-1 responded to the area of the 400 Block of Sierra Madre Villa (Pasadena) regarding a male who broke the caller’s vehicle window.  The air crew arrived on scene first and using the helicopters infrared camera (FLIR) located the suspect to the rear of a church in the area.  The air crew saw the suspect was now using a cutting tool to damage a tarp to the rear of the church.  The air crew directed responding patrol unit to the suspect and he was detained without incident.  The suspect was arrested for felony vandalism.  

Dec. 13 

PD-1 responded to the Lake Ave. Metro Gold Line (Pasadena) station regarding a bicycle theft. When the air crew arrived on scene they located the suspect entering the train with the stolen bicycle.  PD-1 followed the train and directed responding patrol units.  The suspect exited the train with the bicycle at the Del Mar train station.  Patrol units were directed to the suspect and he was detained without incident.  The suspect was arrested for the bicycle theft.   

Dec. 15 

PD-1 responded to the 800 Block of Summit Ave. (Pasadena) regarding a male armed with scissors threatening to kill the apartment manager at the location.  The air crew arrived on scene first and located the suspect on the outside third floor balcony.  The air crew kept a constant eye on the suspect who appeared to be agitated and directed responding patrol units to him.  When patrol units arrived on scene, they contacted the suspect and detained him without incident.  The suspect was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. 

Dec. 18 

Each year the Pasadena Police Department Air Operation Section hosts a Christmas Toy Drive.  Members of the section along with Santa Clause, take toys to children in the Huntington Memorial Hospital Pediatric Ward.  This year the Air Operations Section was also fortunate enough to provide toys to children being assisted by the organization Peace Over Violence.  Peace Over Violence is an organization that assists victims and their families, of domestic violence and sexual assaults. 

Dec. 21 

PD-1 responded to Kohl’s in the City of Alhambra regarding a male who shoplifted from the location.  The suspect was last seen leaving the location on a bicycle.  The air crew arrived on scene first and located the suspect riding his bicycle a short distance away from the store.  Air crew members directed responding patrol units to the suspect as he attempted to flee the scene.  During the incident the suspect dropped his bicycle and attempted to avoid the helicopter and patrol units by running on foot.  PD-1 kept a constant eye on the suspect until ground units detained him.  The suspect was arrested for the theft. 

Dec. 23 

PD-1 responded to the 800 Block of S. Marengo Ave. (Pasadena) regarding a residential burglary that just occurred.  The air crew arrived on scene and while checking the area located the suspect attempting to leave the area.  Air crew members directed patrol units to the suspect and they were detained without incident.  The suspect was arrested for residential burglary. 

Dec. 24 

PD-1 responded to the Sears in the 3600 Block of E. Foothill Blvd. regarding a theft from the store.  The air crew arrived on scene and while checking the area located the suspect at the 76 Gas station.  Air crew members directed patrol units to the suspect and they were detained without incident.  The suspect was arrested for the theft. 

Dec. 30 

PD-1 responded to the area of Fair Oaks Ave. and Union St. regarding a subject selling fake Disneyland tickets.  PD-1 assisted patrol units and located the suspect in the area.  The air crew directed patrol units to the suspect and he was detained without incident.  The suspect was arrested for being in possession of stolen property.
