On January 15, 2013, at approximately 2:12 p.m., the Pasadena Police Department received a telephone call from a male stating that his brother had been shot. Officers responded to the intersection of Chester Avenue and Maple Street where they found an adult male with a gunshot wound. Paramedics responded to the scene and transported the shooting victim, Zane Goldstein (Caucasian male-21, Pasadena resident), to a local area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on January 17, 2013.
Pasadena Police Detectives have been aggressively investigating this case since the shooting occurred. Lead Detective Ara Bzidigian, Pasadena Police Homicide/Assault & Robbery Investigators, and members of the Southwest Regional Pacific Fugitive Taskforce and the West San Gabriel Valley Anti-Crime Taskforce have arrested three individuals for involvement in this crime. Arrested were a 17 year-old (Black male) and Raymond Ramirez (Hispanic male-23) for attempted murder. On January 17, 2013, Ruby Conchas (Hispanic female-20) was arrested for accessory after the fact. All three suspects are Pasadena residents. Ms. Conchas and the juvenile remain in custody. Mr. Ramirez has been released pending further investigation.
“Violent crimes, like this senseless shooting, will not be tolerated. The Pasadena Police Department is committed to pursuing predators who act with such reckless disregard for others. I am hopeful the arrest of suspects will bring some level of satisfaction to the victim’s family”, stated Police Chief Phillip Sanchez.
