Pasadena Public Health Department

Nationwide Shortage of Tuberculosis Skin Testing Solution

Due to a nationwide shortage of tuberculosis (TB) skin testing solution, the Pasadena Public Health Department will be adhering to the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) recommendation of solely providing TB skin testing for high-risk individuals during this time.

As an alternate option, we will continue to offer QuantiFERON TB (non-skin) tests.   Please ask the clinic receptionist for details and information.

We will be prioritizing the use of TB skin tests to the following high-risk individuals ONLY:

  • TB contacts
  • HIV-infected individuals
  • Immigrant screening
  • Pediatric patients (in which QuantiFERON testing is not recommended)

At this time, we will not be offering TB skin tests for routine annual, school or employment screening.
