On Tuesday, July 17, Pasadena Public Health Department Director Dr. Eric Walsh joins a live panel discussion on one of the most important health issues of our time: child and teen obesity in Los Angeles County and what is being done locally to address this epidemic. See a special screening of ”Weight of the Nation” with the panel discussion to follow.
This free event will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 17, at the Crawford Family Forum, 474 South Raymond Ave., Pasadena, CA 91105.
Over half of Los Angeles County’s adult population is already overweight or obese, a figure consistent with the growth trend seen between 1997 and 2007, when the percentage of the county’s residents – including children – jumped from 14 percent to 22 percent. Jose Martinez, of Southern California Public Radio, 89.3 FM KPCC, will moderate the panel discussion: “Weighing In: Addressing Obesity in L.A. County” event.
Panelists include: Dr. Eric Walsh, Director, and Public Health Officer of Pasadena Public Health Department; Jackie Hernandez, Greater LA director, American Heart Association; and Carlos Morales, Founder, Eastside Bike Club.
