It is with mixed emotions that I announce I will not be a candidate in the March 2011 City Council election. My three terms as a Councilman have been very rewarding and I thank the voters of Pasadena for the opportunity to have served. When I step down, I expect to look back fondly on our many accomplishments. More important, I will treasure the friendships that have developed during my twelve years as a Councilman.
There are many people to thank and I plan to do so at future events but at this time, allow me to thank my wife Jane and two daughters, Kathryn and Jenny. Outstanding in their own activities, very supportive and understanding, and a great source of pride for me. I'm lucky to be part of such a wonderful family. Thank you to Rhonda Stone and Jay Blackshaw who have served as Field Representatives during my tenure. Both are special people who made a positive difference in our community.
I also want to thank Mayor Bill Bogaard for making the past twelve years productive and positive for Pasadena. I will complete my final term with the same enthusiasm that I started my first and with the same focus on improving our parks, increasing transit, strengthening our libraries and maintaining sound financial management.
Pasadena is a wonderful city. I am honored to have served as one of its leaders.
